A lot of people write
When they’re depressed
Sometimes they paint
Or sculpt or draw
Or sing their feelings
Rough and raw
It’s a way they have
Of dealing with distress
Some people drink
To quell the pain
Or shop, have sex
Wear Prada sunspecs
And squander
All their money on cocaine
Other people like to walk
Or run in circles
Round the block
Keep fit, Pilates
Drink skinny lattes
Or there are those
Who simply like
To sit and talk
Each time I crunch Doritos
Or sip on alcoholic drink
Prosecco and mojitos
It causes me to sit and think
That though I numb my pain
And suffer dark depression
I’m still alive and sane
And every hour’s a lesson
